The context
The group of patrons wanted to commission an artist to create a work for the new building of the mutualist residence "Jules Sauvageot" in Nuits Saint Georges, highlighting and favouring the importance of the time of contemplation for the elderly people who stay there.
The commission
Antoine Espinasseau created an original work of art inside the activity room, encouraging the residents to come and stay. This work will induce a permanent relationship between interior and exterior (the room and the garden) by proposing a "window time", a soothing limit of the "aggressive" view from the exterior, a space/time of contemplation. The perception of the exterior also changed by the reorganization of the garden into different levels and points of view will be an extension of the interior.
Antoine Espinasseau
Antoine Espinasseau, born in 1985, has an architectural background. After having become interested in the hidden qualities of residential housing estates, he devoted himself to the creation of installations where form and meaning are combined around the notions of archipelagos or reverberations. It is part of the new open stage for the situation makers.
