Bruno Latour about the notion of composition (21'37'') — How can social interests and conflicts be made visible? In his lecture, Paris philosopher Bruno Latour explores the role of art. At KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (DE), 9 October 2009
The realisation of these projects requires the involvement of researchers and experts from all sorts of disciplines.

When artists propose forms that require innovative materials or processes, technical studies are conducted. Other studies can be requested on the economic or social impacts of a specific proposal or on the regulations which appear unsuitable to the reality of the needs raised by the patrons. In fact the requests highlight the fundamental role art plays in the formation of a culture. In order to develop a collective intelligence about the stakes and the ways in which our societies have used art, the social sciences are also called upon. These calls can be actioned in the form of a commission by the mediators or as general support to the research led in the various fields.
