Day Therapy Centre of Centre Hospitalier Guillaume Régnier, Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, France, 2019

The "La Morinais" Day Therapy Centre (D.T.C.) in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande is an outpatient care structure of the Centre Hospitalier Guillaume Régnier that offers patients an alternative to hospitalization. Recently installed in a new building in the heart of a new district, the D.T.C. co-exists with housing and tertiary activities. Doctors, nurses and users of the D.T.C. wanted to become patrons of an artwork that would contribute to a change of perspective on patients and highlight the ideas of serenity and tranquility of the place while being stimulating for users. They then called on the New Patrons' action of Fondation de France.

On the advice of 40mcube, the commission was awarded to the Swiss artist duo Lang/Baumann. Beautiful Curtain #3 takes the form of curtains with coloured rectangular patterns, which take place on the building's glass façade. This artwork modifies both the interior and exterior of the premises. Inside, it allows users to appropriate the new spaces by bringing bright colours and warm light. On the outside, the building's façade is adorned with a wide colourful composition that acts as a call from the street. Beautiful Curtain #3 creates a bond that encourages users and residents to meet.
