Five years after the Paris attacks of 13 November 2015 and on the eve of the Paris Peace Forum of 11 November 2020, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Franco-Lebanese composer and poet Bechara El-Khoury and the Fondation de France have decided to join forces for this concert at the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, in homage to the victims. This concert will give the opportunity to hear Il fait novembre en mon âme, a world premiere by Bechara El-Khoury commissioned by the parents in memory of Stéphane, who died at the Bataclan.
The challenge of this commission lies in the difficulty of grasping through a musical form the question of memory, of the impossible mourning, of the unthinkable that has taken place, but also of paying homage to the disappeared by creating a moment of collective union that goes beyond particular pains. How to reconcile the collective and the intimate? How to translate, through a new work, the request of a mother and a common disaster in Paris? This creation by Bechara El-Khoury responds to this question in both the singular and the plural. Mozart's "Paris" symphony will celebrate the eternal city of light.
This event is thus at the point of convergence of several very topical themes:
- The commemoration of the Paris attacks of 2015;
- attention to the victims and their families;
- support for artistic creation through public and private commissions in the context of the cultural sector;
- the illustration of the friendship between France and Lebanon, through the personality and career of this renowned composer.
For this exceptional concert, conductor Pierre Bleuse will lead the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and mezzo-soprano Isabelle Druet.
